This weekend was full of friends and family, a happy weekend indeed!

Batman, lazy mornings with fresh eggs, bowling night, pool parties and dinner at new places. 

This is our last full week in Austin before we head to Scottsdale. Gotta make it a good one!

This weekend...

 I had Friday off and after cleaning up the apartment, I finally broke down and got a manicure...

and I must say that "clambake" was a fine choice.

After getting a much needed haircut, I decided that it had been much too long since I've purchased a new outfit so I stopped by urban outfitters and pick up these two little things...

Met up with boyfriend and friends to enjoy a Friday afternoon on the roof complete with corn hole, drinks...

Oh, and this AMAZING view!

Saturday we hopped on the train and headed for the beach...

I'll admit, this isn't a picture from Saturday... but since we've been going to the beach every weekend I thought I could share one from before!

We dined with friends at Sala One Nine

Sunday we finally broke down and tried the french restaurant downstairs from our apartment, 

Le Bistro D'a Cote...

And I have to admit, it really was the best eggs florentine I've ever had.

We cheered on the ladies while they played their hearts out for the USA... and sadly watched Japan win.

Now it's time to figure out what's for dinner. I guess it's also time to mentally prepare for the work week ahead. Can you believe it's July 17?! Where has summer gone? 

Oh.. one last thing...

BEST FRIEND IS PREGNANT!!! 

(and we can finally talk about it out loud with the rest of you!)

for the past few weeks now i've been obsessing over watercolor paintings and wanting to try a few on my own. now, i honestly can't remember the last time i played with watercolors.. 3rd grade perhaps? so it's safe to say that i have no fancy techniques or unique brush strokes to add to any sort of creation. today 

i finally bought a watercolor set.. which led to the purchase of more brushes, and watercolor pencils, and pastels, and fancy paper... i really don't know when to stop. 

so after an hour of sketching, mixing, painting and smearing..

 i share with you my final result!

i don't love it.. at all. 

but hey, there's a first time for everything and practice makes perfect, right?

i hope everyone had a lovely weekend.. 

mine was filled with many hours of work and very few hours of play.

one amazing weekend

after waking up late in a fluffy bed, we decided that the day was too beautiful to stay in the city trapped underneath shadow casting skyscrapers. we jumped in our hertz connect car (i'm making it sound much easier than it actually was...) and headed out to mendham, new jersey. nick lived in this adorable little city 7 years ago so we decided to go check things out. now i have to honest with you, after hearing so many things about new jersey (through mtv's jersey shore and bravo's real housewives of new jersey of course) i was really surprised to find out how gorgeous the drive out was to such an amazing little town, 2 towns actually. we drove into chester to find ourselves in the middle of the harvest festival. we stopped into the first coffee house we walked past to grab what turned out to be two of the most delicious tasting drinks we've had in a while. we walked up and down the main street, stopped at the publick house , and admired the shops (eh, maybe just me) while enjoying the crisp fall weather. we jumped back in the car to head out to stoney hill farm market. pumpkin patches, an oversized corn maze, and a farmers market defined this place... and it was perfect. we made one last stop, 10 yorkshire road. they must have known we would be driving past the old casa de doloresco because the house was lit up perfectly. we checked out a nearby pond to take a few pictures of the fall trees - i could have made that little gazebo home for the night, the place was right out of a book. after detouring to the pizza pub we headed back to the city.

This weekend wasn't long enough, but then again they never are.

When Fifth Avenue was shut down for this parade, we realized it was Oktoberfest!

to find hundreds of tables set up for chess competitions!
