No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow. ~Proverb

This weekend was a lovely, lazy one indeed.
Although there's still a chill in the air, you can feel the excitement of spring (summer at this point??) throughout the city. Sunday we got to shed a layer and after a morning full of errands I decided it was the perfect day for spring cleaning (packing at this point??).

I'm still trying to stay away from coffee as much as I can. Don't get me wrong, there are many Friday mornings were that cup gets me through the day but weekends are the perfect time for tea. A steamy cup of tea on a Sunday morning? Yes, please. Have you ever heard of the Tea Spot? It's a place on MacDougal that Nick and I stumbled into when we first moved here and it was quickly a favorite. The owner can mix you up a concoction of loose leaf tea to satisfy any craving you may have. The last time we were there I left with a 3 ounce bag of buttery toffee tea.. I'm still enjoying every cup.

Although the flowers I picked up from the market are fragrant enough to keep this entire apartment smelling divine, I couldn't pass up another candle. It's an addiction. It's really a problem. I also learned that hyacinth flowers aren't like your typical market flowers that need their stems chopped off before they go in a vase... I learned the hard way. At least I know why they died within a few days the last time I brought them home though. Lesson learned.

A green thumb's never been my thing however, I've found a few plants that seem to be everlasting. Today I rewarded them with fresh air and bright sun. They've grown so much since they've been mine!! You wouldn't believe that the aloe vera "plants" were sent to me through the mail in a zip lock bag. They were tiny and I had no soil so I just let them sit on the table while I promised every day I'd bring home soil for them. I thought about just throwing the little things away, looking at their bare roots gave me little hope that they would ever make it but look at them now!! I really wish I had a before and after picture because I know you're probably just laughing and rolling your eyes... but really!!

The fresh air was welcomed and appreciated in this apartment. The windows have been closed for a while now trying to keep the chilly winds out but today they were open to their fullest and even though I had to chase out a few [extremely large] flies, man was it worth it.

Tomorrow is MAY. I can't even believe it.

Happy last day of April. I hope it was a good one and I hope May is as exciting as a month for you as it is for us!
