Other kids did drugs; I did crafts. I never knew where I fit in. ~ Kathy Lee Gifford

I came across this post on P.S. I made this a few weeks ago and decided it needed to be on my summer DIY list.

My grandfather long ago gave me a gigantic jar full of matchbooks. He collected them as he traveled around the world for business and when he passed them along to me he said I could do anything I wanted with them, except burn them. Well, thank goodness I ran into this post because really, what else do you do with matchbooks other than use them??

After painting a few white shadow boxes and rearranging matchbooks a few dozen times, I finally came up with these..

I love that each book represents a specific day in his life. I can't to have them be a part of our framed wall in our new place. It's the perfect way to incorporate old into new!

  1. LOVE this! And how they're kind of ombre with their similar colors. Well done!
